How ratings work
Each club's team in an age group and gender (for example "U12 boys") gets a strength rating built from the games saved on Futsal Season. It shows on club pages and in the Rankings tab. It is a guide to how a team has done, not a verdict on any child.
What it is built from
Only games we have saved: the leagues and tournaments we track (mostly HTG Sports) and the pool play of the U.S. Futsal National Championship. Teams are ranked against the other teams in that data, not against every team in the country. Many games are not here, so a team's real season can be longer than what we show.
How the number moves
- Every team starts at 1500, the average. We replay games in date order.
- Beating a stronger team moves you up more than beating a weaker one. Losing to a weaker team costs more.
- Goal difference counts, with each extra goal counting a little less, so a 12–0 is not worth twice a 6–0.
- Forfeits and games with no score are ignored. A game listed twice (for example in two overlapping divisions) counts once.
When a team is ranked
A team needs at least 8 saved games to appear in the rankings. Until then its club page shows its results but no rank. Rankings are for teams, never for individual players, and we never list players.
How far to trust it
We tested the method on 2,626 held-back games: it picked the winner 71% of the time, about the same as simply picking the team with the better record so far (71%). Its advantage is that it also weighs who you played, and it works across events. Treat it as one input, and use the organizer's own standings as the official table.
